I’ve had a love for the kitchen all my life.
A little about me, I am a mother who loves to cook for her daughter. I remember the first thing I learned to cook was Lasagna. I was about 6 years old. My mom sat me down at the breakfast nook in my Grandmother’s kitchen and told me step by step of what I needed to do to make lasagna.. It was a joyous feeling to see everyone in my family enjoy something I made. Ever since then all I wanted to do is cook. Many friends who eat my meals think I went to school for cooking, but to their surprise they come to find out it’s a hobby that I truly put my heart into.
The first time I experienced baking was with my Grandmother and My Aunt Patty. We made an Apple Beehive pie. I was also 6 years old. Later on I came to find out that the age of 6 was the time to include the young ones to participate with cooking. I can recollect my little hands rolling the dough with my Grandmother while my Aunt Patty was cutting the apples. I recall I kept asking the one question, ‘Are we going to put bee’s in the pie and where are the bee’s’? I can hear my Grandmother and Aunt laughing but they didn’t reveal the answer to me. I helped them cut the dough in strips and then they showed me how to place it over the apples to make it into a beehive crust. I recall I was so happy, but when they put it in the oven I was told I couldn’t watch it bake through the oven door because it was time to take a nap. This made me so sad, and I cried to sleep, but I recall when I awoke my Grandmother and my Aunt Patty told everyone I helped make the pie for dessert. The compliments I had received from everyone gave me an awesome feeling. Everyone was saying ” You did a god job and this taste delicious, I knew then on how I can go about life making my family and friends happy by preparing the main course meal and dessert. I’m so proud to say, I still receive these compliments and I still get the same feeling I got when I was only 6 years old.

Additionally, I can make excellent cocktail drinks. I didn’t learn this from anyone in my family for I actually went to bartending school. I learned the basics, then I learned how to mix drinks on my own. I furthered my knowledge and learned a lot of detox drinks This interest of detox drinks began when I joined the biggest loser contest at work. My coworkers and I did the competition for two years and I won both years. Then everyone gave up. However, they wanted to know, what did I do to help me to succeed in winning. I shared with them that I did go to the gym but I drank the detox drinks that I made. This is to confirm how I am very determined in succeeding in what I start, however my true determination is to succeed with assuring everyone is satisfied with a great meal.

Presently and still going strong, my family & friends love my cooking, when we go to family events the first thing my Mother and Brothers ask, “What did you make ShaSha?” My cousin’s husband calls me the Goat –( Greatest Of All Time), after he takes a taste of what I had cooked. I am always flattered from compliments I get from family and friends regarding my cooking, it keeps me motivated to do better. I started this blog because on Sunday’s I would post my step by step antics on how to make my Sunday dinner on Snapchat. All friends and family consistently been telling me for some time that I should have my own cooking show or start a blog. So I decided I’ll start with this blog..
My motto of cooking is, to sit and watch and learn, then I create to what I know my palate likes and then to what I feel others would like.
I have come to see over and over many who want to cook a great meal by a recipe but change their minds and order in. It seems it becomes too complicated rather than keeping it simple.
How many times have you seen a recipe and said, “Wow this looks good!” But when many read the recipes they end up asking themselves:
I don’t know half of these ingredients and I need to use all of what, to create this dish?
Do I really want to spent $8 bucks on a seasoning or spice I am not familiar with?
I don’t like Lamb but can I use it steak instead or will it throw the taste of with these ingredients?
My belief in cooking are, you can use recipes that are already available and improvise it on whatever you like. It’s all about your own palate.
So take it as suggestions from the recipes and then use what you know works for sure and what you like because it may bring a delicious meal or dessert out of it.
So with that being said, welcome to my Kitchen, whereas you cook with recipes of your interest but you edited it your flavor to mix it together to an awesome meal, which is my style of cooking!
